I have heard friends talk about a Vienna Cake whose taste is to die for. Those in the know seem to have connections to one or two people who specialize in this pastry art, mostly older family friends. St. Croix seems to always com up in conversation when I ask where one finds someone willing to produce this item. Much of what I have been exposed to is a few steps removed from a multi layer cake interspersed with fruit preserves. If anyone has a classic recipe and is willing to share, please post. Alternatively share where it may be possible to purchase a truly classic product. I know the vegans who may join this conversation will excuse this post that clearly discusses a product laden with milk and eggs.
